In the times we are living in today, it is no wonder that parents are feeling unsettled in general, and anxious about their children specifically.

Totally understandable! Covid-19 and its subsequent restrictions serve as a constant reminder that there is so much out of our control. To make matters worse, we don’t know for sure when it will all end. However, the reality is that there are so many things out of our control even in regular, normal, run-of-the-mill times and yet we try to avoid that truth every single day of our lives.

For instance, have you ever stopped to think that the world is spinning daily at the dizzying rate of around 1,000 miles per hour? While at the same time, our home, the beautiful blue-green planet earth, is orbiting the sun at 67,000 mph! Meanwhile, our Milky Way galaxy (I just love that yummy name, don’t you?), is hurtling through space at 490,000 mph! Yet, according to Scientific American, we won’t hit anything during our lifetime. Whew! See, the feeling that we have everything under OUR control, is quite simply an illusion. You’ve been on this dirt rocket your whole life without being at the wheel. And, here you are still. Deep breath in…..and out…ahhh.

One of the ways we try to maintain a bit of control in our lives is through amassing things around us. These things can begin to take up way too much space in our physical surroundings as well as in our mental field. That’s why I’ve decided to use space here at YAR to help remind you of what you can control instead of all of the things you can’t control.

Join me in 50 days of decluttering and reclaiming our personal and mental space. I’ll continue posting daily “assignments” on YAR Coach FB page and you’ll be able to find it on the YAR YouTube channel as well on www.yarcoach.com. Tell your friends, involve the kiddos, feel good about doing what you can do in this time of limitation instead of feeling bad about all that you can’t do. And the best part is that we’ll all be doing it together. YAY!!!

Sending you so much love and hope for relief,
Terri
